How the Time is Structured

Camps are 3 hours long, and we give brains and bodies a chance to recharge with one 30 minute outdoor break. This may include walks around the neighborhood, social "hang-out" time at a green space, or open play at our nearby park.

Formal instruction will be approximately one-third of the time, with remaining time devoted to creative projects and practice of techniques taught.

Daily Schedule

What Students Will Learn and Do

  • Learn to use software for video editing and create your own videos combining live shots, free footage found online and screen activity capture
  • Explore sound capture and editing within videos and use effective mix of audio recording, background music and sound effects to enhance your videos
  • Discover the basics of vector and bitmap drawings to create your own original art or edit existing images, including making art for YouTube video thumbnails, and a channel banner
  • Design and create custom animations for intros or video clips
  • Learn the mechanics of setting up a YouTube channel and uploading your first videos

Students should come with ideas for videos, animations and art they want to produce, and challenges or themes will also be provided. We will show students how to stream or capture gaming, but this topic is fairly straightforward so other types of videos will be the main focus.

Sports Add-On (Full Day Camp 9am-4pm)

Note: Available in Chicago only

For dates between June 24 and Aug 16, we are pleased to offer the option to add a half day of sports and games with our partner, We Got Game.

Sports will primarily take place at Burley Elementary and may include swim time at Hamlin Park (dry activities will be accommodated for kids who don't swim).

The add-on includes lunch hour supervision at Hamlin Park, and an escorted walk between the two camps.

Please note that you will drop off in the morning at one camp and pick up in the afternoon at the other.
