Scratch Coding & Sports camps are designed for kids ages 7-10 to get a fun and well-rounded experience with both physical and mental challenges.
Our sports partner for the third year is We Got Game. Their expert and professional coaches provide a fun and safe introduction to a variety of team sports and outdoor games.
Camps begin with sports in the morning at nearby Hamlin Park. Kids meet with their coach from We Got Game Sports, and begin an assortment of traditional and creative sports and games that get them active and working together.
After lunch is eaten and some free time is allowed, the kids are walked over to Power Up Tech Academy for afternoon coding class. The three hour session is broken up with an outdoor break at Hamlin Park for snacks and unstructured playground time.
Kids in this class learn from our core Scratch Video Game curriculum. By building a series of working video games, they are exposed to programming concepts and practices such as events, loops, if statements, variables, testing and debugging.
We welcome our returning intermediate and advanced students, who will be given individual challenges or support to work on their own project if they have a suitable one.
Computers are provided and we will help kids get set up with an account, if they need one. Scratch is a free online language and is available at home during and after the camp.
The price for this camp is $549 for a regular week and $439 for the 4-day week (June 19-22).
If you are unable to make it to all 5 days, we do not offer price adjustments. Please select a week that works for your schedule.
Camps are capped at 8 students, and will have a 4:1 ratio or better at this age group. Our instructors are adult professionals with post-secondary coding education. We hire talented high school and college students as teaching assistants and to provide near-peer interactions.
